GREAT NEWS - THE ORIGINAL IPLAYER ADD-ON NOW HAS A NEW WORKING UPDATE

Great news :-)  We now have a fully working new updated version 2.6.3 of the original iPlayer for the BBC, which you should still have the currently defunct old version 2.5.x pre-installed in your magic box. This is the iPlayer add-on for the BBC that we always highly recommend and indeed is the one that most of you are used to using and love.

It will need manually downloading and installing as auto updates do not happen with this add-on as unlike most other add-ons it currently has no repository home as yet. However do not worry as we make that easy for you to do yourself, as shown below.  The update will also happily retain your already configured iplayerproxy4u account details too as we set up for you prior to shipping your box.  Note you will need to be subscribed to our iplayerproxy4u proxy service after your original free 30 day period expired or it will not work of course.

So once updated to the new V2.6.3 it will back just as it used to be and even better  :-).

Step A: Downloading

On your PC you need to download and save the file called "iPlayer-v2.6.3.zip" which is for your convenience attached with this article, just select the attachment option below.  If the attachment does not work for you, then it is also available to download direct from the following Google Drive site by just clicking the link HERE ,  or temporarily I have also made it available on my personal public Dropbox site you can use by clicking on the following link to My Dropbox   It is only a small file of only 2MB so will take only a few seconds to download.

Once downloaded locate it and copy it exactly as it is to the root of a USB flash drive stick (best to use a small stick under 8 or 16 GB). YOU SHOULD NOT UNZIP THIS FILE OR IT WILL NOT WORK.

Step B: Installing the new V2.6.3 update

1.  Insert your USB stick where you have the iPlayer-v2.6.3.zip file saved as in Step B above. You do not need to power off you box for this as the USB ports are hot pluggable of course.

2. Ensure your box is fully connected to your router and to the internet. Confirm this by checking for correct date and time shown top right and correct local weather info shown top left of your TV screen.

3. On the blue home screen use navigate the horizontal main menu bar using your remote arrow keys to highlight the most right hand option "System".  Using remote down arrow button go down one click and select Settings and press the OK button.

4. You should now be presented on-screen with the Confluence  "Change Your Settings" panel.

5.  With your remote arrow buttons select the "Add-ons" option, which is the third from the bottom in the left hand column list, and press the OK button.

6. You will now see a short list of options for which you need to select the next to last one called "Install from zip file" and again press the OK button.

7. You now have a list of sources on the right hand side of your screen where you need to locate your USB stick you inserted into the box in Step 1 above.  This may be called Kingston or usb1, sda1 or whatever you may have labelled your USB stick, but you do need to carefully choose the right source. If you know how to it is a good idea to label your USB stick before you start this procedure to make it easier to locate here.

8. Once you have highlighted your correct USB stick then press OK and  you should see a list or recognisable files and folders on your USB stick. Of course if you have followed the above steps carefully you will see the file we are after called iPlayer-v2.6.3.zip.

9. Select the iPlayer-v2.6.3.zip file and hit your OK button.  The sources screen panel will disappear and if you wait a minute or so (probably only a few seconds) you will see a pop up window bottom right that says "iPlayer Add-on enabled"

10. That is it you have completed the task so just press your Return button (the one with the curved arrow) a few times until you are back on the home screen.  Now find and select your iPlayer add-on icon (probably the next to most right hand one on your bottom line of short cuts) and enjoy your new fully working V2.6.3 of your favourite original iPlayer.

NOTE Remember you must have a valid current iplayerproxy4u subscription account and your personal proxy server details still entered into the iPlayer configuration settings just as we shipped the box to you.  So if this add-on had been working before it went defunct a week or so ago then it should be up and working with no problems.
